Grant Opportunities For Women

In this article, we are going to look at two specific grant programs which are available to Women in the US. These grants provide financial assistance for different reasons. The first which we will look at is called the "Women's Educational Equity Act Program (WEA)" while the second is issued by the government with the aim of "Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers".

These two grants have been introduced specifically to help women in their respective aims and have only very recently been founded by the government.

The Women's Educational Equity Act Program (WEA)

There are numerous different aims for this program which are laid out below and have been set by the government. They are:

To give particular educational agencies and institutions (i.e Schools and Colleges) financial aid so that they meet the requirements of the amendments made in 1972 which were brought about the increase social equity in education between men and women.
The second aim of the program is simply to increase the gender equity in education, where there is currently a large gap in the United States.
The third aim of the program is to try and battle discrimination on the grounds of age, race, sex and disability for women. These are problems suffered by many women in the US and this grant is specifically targeted to those who currently are unable to receive proper education because of discrimination.

The Program for "Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers"

This program aims to make sure that there is more representation of women in the scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical areas of research and careers. The government is using this grant to try and level the playing field between men and women in careers which are strongly male-dominated. The government is looking to achieve a more diverse workforce which represents the aims of the public as a whole rather than a majority group. This grant is primarily aimed at educational institutions or organizations.

The government is asking through this program for proposals by these organizations which will help level this playing field. They are asking for new ideas to help this growing problem and are prepared to award substantial amounts of money to organizations which are looking to provide an effective solution. They are asking for big and small organizations to come up with ideas and they will be financially aided in their search for more equality in professional careers.
